The untidy rewilding had been an issue in North Worle for a while as it looked such a mess. Dog walkers complained that their dogs wandered into the rewilding and came out with ticks. Small children got affected by the grass seed at face height, and sometimes got ticks as well. And the long grass contained litter which was hard to collect.
For all these reasons we were asked and asked by residents to get the grass cut, particularly along the Queensway, but officers said the rewilding was Council policy.
However, when I raised it at a full Council Meeting and showed pictures, this really worked and the grass was cut in a few days.
We have had incidents of travellers' camps setting up on land by Walford Avenue. The good news is that the Council, encouraged by the Councillors, have now had bollards and raised ground put in as a deterrent.
Recently the underpass to Priory School from the Sainsbury's site was badly flooded, but I contacted the Council and this was cleared straight away.
At the October North Worle Forum I was pleased to have Highways officers, Rob and James, there to tell us about the plans for improving traffic flow where Walford Avenue joins the Queensway and where the Queensway joins the Bristol Road. There was a large attendance and we had a useful question time after the presentation. Several further questions and suggestions about the Queensway and about Wansborough Road, have since come through on North Worle Forum Facebook page.
